RGBIC LED Strip FAQ
Can you cut RGBIC LED strips?
Always cut only at the marked lines to avoid damaging the circuit.
After cutting, you may need a connector or soldering to reattach power or extend the strip.
Note: Some COB RGBIC LED strips are not cuttable due to their continuous chip design—always check product specifications before cutting.
What is addressable LED strip?
This means you can display multiple colors on the same strip at once, create animations (like chasing lights, waves, or text), or synchronize effects across long runs. Popular IC types include WS2812B, SK6812, and UCS1903.
Unlike standard RGB strips (which change color uniformly), addressable strips offer pixel-level precision, making them ideal for creative projects, signage, and dynamic ambient lighting.
How to wire addressable LED strip?
V+ (Positive) → Connect to the positive terminal of your power supply (12V or 24V, depending on strip specs).
GND (Ground) → Connect to the negative terminal of the power supply and the controller’s ground.
Data In (DI) → Connect to the data output pin of your controller (e.g., Arduino pin D6, or the data port on a WiFi controller).
Use a separate power supply for longer strips (>2–3 meters) to prevent voltage drop.
Add a capacitor (1000µF) across power lines and a resistor (330–470Ω) on the data line near the strip for stability.
Always connect power last after wiring data and ground to avoid damaging ICs.
Can I control the RGBIC LED strip with a smartphone app?
Choose from millions of colors
Adjust brightness and speed
Select dynamic effects (rainbow, strobe, fade, etc.)
Create schedules or scenes
Sync multiple strips across rooms
Does RGBIC LED strip work with Alexa or Google Assistant?
Once linked through the companion app (e.g., “Smart Life” or “Tuya”), you can use voice commands like:
“Alexa, set the living room lights to ocean blue.”
“Hey Google, turn off the RGBIC strip.”
“Alexa, brighten the kitchen lights by 50%.”
Does RGBIC LED strip support music sync or sound activation?
Using either:
The microphone in your smartphone (via app), or
A built-in mic on the controller (on select models),
Is the RGBIC LED strip waterproof? Can I use it in bathrooms or outdoors?
IP20: Non-waterproof – for dry, indoor use only (e.g., behind TVs, shelves).
IP65: Water-resistant – protected against splashes; great for kitchens, bathrooms (away from direct shower spray), and covered patios.
IP67/IP68: Fully waterproof – can be submerged or used in rain, pools, gardens, and outdoor architectural lighting.
